Going
the Distance to Give Back National
Dental Network's mission is to help raise the standard of care in dentistry by
providing dental professionals throughout the world with the highest quality of
training and education.
One
way we fulfill our mission is by traveling the globe almost weekly to film instructional programs that feature world-class clinicians and
content. Another way is by using our resources and expertise to help
expand access to this vital level of training and
education. In 2006, NDN set a goal to provide dental school students with free
access to Internet-based, live-patient surgeries. The value of the educational
grant based, on development and subscription costs over a 5-year period, is
likely to exceed over $100M—one of the largest endowments ever
from a private company.
Dentistry, including cosmetic, implant,
full-mouth and other sub-specialties, is highly dependent upon exposure to a
variety of cases as well as the observations of different clinicians, their
individual approaches and their products of choice. This very fact makes it
challenging for a fragmented industry, such as dentistry, which is why the
opportunity to learn via NDN's acclaimed distance learning programs is so
important.
By
working together with the world's leading clinicians, teaching institutions and
our many corporate partners, we are optimistic that National Dental Network can
continue to make positive and lasting contributions to the industry, and
ultimately, help to raise standards of care.
